Art Journal

I've been doing the Wanderlust 2016 classes and was inspired by Karen Michel to create a material covered journal.  Can I just say that I've never made a book before nor tried to cover one in fabric so this was definitely a learning curve.

I started with some cream cotton fabric and sprayed with Pure Colour Inks from Oak House Studio - I wanted a graded effect so started with Vintage Jeans at the top, Jubilee Blue then Totally Turquoise down the bottom.  I didn't have a book to cover so just used card off the back of a paper pad and stuck the fabric on with Multi Matte Medium.

For the pages I used all the bluey-green half sprayed papers I had on my desk ie. bits that were used for mopping up and leftovers etc and punched holes in them all.  I've also used a few co-ordinating scrapbook papers too.

I fastened the book together with some waxed cotton cord and added beads and an old earing!

I'm really pleased with how it's turned out although I may decorate the front cover and of course the pages inside are waiting to be added to with stamps, journaling, more paint and ink etc.  I'm linking this to the Anything but Cute Challenge where the theme is Crazy for Colour - I've used lots of wet inks in lots of blues and greens so hope that's acceptable.

Thanks for visiting and Happy Easter everyone!

G for GALAXY

Another fortnight and another postcard for The Craft Barn's Alpha Dictionary Challenge where the letter is G.   Nothing much stood out when I read my dictionary so I decided to go for GALAXY.

The background is a swooshy mix of Vintage Blue and Waterfall Pure Colours (from Oak House Studio).  I used a mini Star stencil for the 'milky way' with some white acrylic paint and then added Silver Stickles ......for some Glitter!!  I've edged it with some Silver Treasure Gold for a bit more Glimmer and finished with the G  Thicker and dictionary definition.

It's not very exciting this week I'm afraid but hope you like and thanks for visiting.  Thanks also for your lovely comments - it's makes it all worthwhile.

R for RAVEN

Here is my next postcard for The Craft Barn's Alpha Dictionary Challenge where the letter this time is R.

I chose to do Raven as I had this beautiful Stampendous Raven sat unused in my stash.  The background is Barn Door Distress (red) and I blended some Picked Raspberry through a Studio Calico Spiral Graph Stencil .....this covers all those other R words like round, ring, radiate, rotate etc etc.  I've added extra stamping with some Hero Arts Castle Icons.  Unfortunately my castle has subsidence - I lined my wooden block up perfectly with the edge of the card but it seems the rubber is not stuck straight on the block....doh!!

I love seeing what words everyone else uses and it's educational too.  One word I found was Roustabout but I had no clue how to depict a labourer on an oil rig!

Thanks for visiting.

Citrus Daisies

Just watching the Davis Cup and thought I'd make something for the Less is More Challenge week 265 - it's a colour week and CITRUS.

I've used the Daisy and Rainbow set from Oak House Studio and stamped the Daisy Border with the three colours in the Triple Autumn Leaves ink pad.  I know it's called Autumn Leaves but it has bright yellow, orange and green - citrus and Spring colours too!!   I've just added words from the You Are my Rainbow set.......simple but bright and cheery.

Thanks for visiting and leaving comments - they are much appreciated.  Now back to seeing what everyone else has made and watching the tennis!
