Jewelled Dragonfly

Here is my next postcard for the Craft Barn's Alpha Dictionary Challenge where the letter is J and we have to use a Dragonfly.  Not an easy combination but having read all the Js I've chosen to do JIGSAW.

For the background I've sponged some Opalite Cypress Frost through a Leaf Swirl stencil and then cut out with a Sizzix Jigsaw Die.  For the Dragonfly I've used Tim  Holtz's Die and Embossing Folder.  The black layer I've painted Opalite Glacier Blue to add to the sheen and the wings I've cut and embossed from acetate and coloured with alcohol inks.  To add to the bling I've added some gems or Jewels!!   As usual it's just finished with the J Thicker and the torn dictionary definition.

Hope you like my dragonfly!  Thanks for visiting and leaving comments.  I'm off to see what others have come up with ......

  1. Hi Elaine, thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment! Your dragonfly is beautiful - it looks so fragile. I had a search online for jigsaw dies and stamps and used them for inspiration for my hand drawn (and cut) version. Best wishes, Anne O

  7. An extremely effective use of both the dragonfly and the J. You must have a ton of dies! This is wonderful, as is the jeweled and sparkly dragonfly.

  11. Wow! That is a lovely dragonfly. We picked the same word for the J but our results are quite different. I love your postcard.

  13. I love the shimmer on your dragonfly and on the leaves. I have some Opalite re-inkers and had never thought of using them through a stencil but I will certainly be giving it a go now.
