Clematis Tower 2

I was sat looking at my first entry for the Less is More Sketch Challenge and whilst I love the black and white, I thought it needed some colour.

I used a Rose Carmine Aquamarker for the flowers as I love deep pink and turquoise as a colour combination and then added a little purple for the flower centres.

I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to enter the same card twice but it does give a different look. So which do you prefer??

Clematis Tower

Here's a card I've made for the Less is More challenge week 52 to match the SKETCH.

I've used the Clematis Tower and Thinking of You stamps from Oak House Studio; both embossed with Midnight Sparkle powder and added to the rectangular card. You can't really see the sparkle in the photo but it is there!!

Thanks for looking.

Blowing Bubbles

I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles is the theme song for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge this week and here's my card.

I've included both Blowing and Bubbles!! I used various alcohol inks, glossy card and a straw for the backgrounds. Then I wrapped an acrylic block with bubble wrap, swiped it with Chipped Sapphire Distress Stain and stamped it on the blue piece. It's just finished with a new Oak House Studio stamp ENJOY.

I did enjoy playing; just had to stop every now and again to stop myself hyperventilating!!

Dragon Stamp

I've just realised it's the Chinese New Year today and 2012 is the Year of the Dragon so had a quick look through the archives to see if I could find a card that was appropriate. And here it is:

It features an Oak House Studio Dragon stamped on acetate with Stazon. For the background I've used Alcohol Inks dabbed with Blending Solution to create the circles and then matted this over gold card. It's very shiny in real life!!

Let's hope the Year of the Dragon is a good year!

For Your Eyes Only

Here's my art for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge 189 with the theme of EYES.

I don't have that many eye/face stamps so decided to go with this Darkroom Door Mail Art set. I've randomly stamped the images on/off an A5 envelope in Archival Jet Black and Vermillion and then blended over with Worn Lipstick, Fired Brick and Aged Mahogany Distress Inks. The 10c stamp is a Tim Holtz one.

And where are the eyes I hear you cry... well they're on the flap!!

Hope you like it. If you look closely you'll be able to spot my 'deliberate' mistake!! That Postie phrase always make me smile so I use it occasionally on my mail to give the postmen something to smile at too!!

Apertures 2

Whilst I was die cutting I thought I'd make another card for the Less is More Challenge 51 with the theme of "Cut it Out".

I used Tim Holtz's Butterflight On the Edge die but used it in the middle of the card, then hand cut the rectangle. Again with pearlescent and textured scraps, I cut the butterflies individually and glued them over the die cut. Simple to do but just make sure you cut them the right way - I didn't so had to turn my card inside out. Doh!! I just backed the aperture with some black card to make the butterflies stand out, and finished with a sentiment.

Thanks for looking.

Apertures

Here's a card I've made for the Less is More Challenge week 51 with the theme "Cut it Out".

I've cut a scalloped circle out of the front of some glossy card and then filled the aperture with woven strips of card. Simple to do if a little fiddly, but it's a great way to use up all those scraps of card left over from other projects!

Thanks for looking.

Owls

I made a few more one layer cards for the Less is More Bird challenge but I think this first owl is the best. It's an Elusive Images/Chocolate Baroque stamp and is so detailed that really it needs no further embellishment.

The next owl has some Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks as a background but I think it's not so striking as the first card.

They'd make a great set of notecards!!

Gold

Here's a tag for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge 188 with the theme Gold.

For the background I embossed the Oak House Studio Walesby Flourish stamp and then blended Bundled Sage Distress Ink over it. It's spritzed with gold perfect pearls and edged with Gold Dabber. The owl is an Elusive Images/Chocolate Baroque one stamped with gold dabber. The tag is just finished with a few flourishes, some ribbon and the phrase 'Spread Your Wings'.

I couldn't get the owl to show up very well but they are naturally quite shy!!

Bluebird

Here's my first card for the Less is More challenge with the theme of one layer birds.

I just tore a hole in some scrap paper to create a mask, used Broken China Distress Ink for the background and stamped the Elusive Images/Chocolate Baroque bird in Jet Black Archival.

A quick and simple card - hope you like!!

One Step at a Time

Only Monday and I'm posting my tag for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge 187 with the theme of TIME. Busy the rest of the week so thought I'd better get my act together...one step at a time!!

Well what else could I use but Tim's clock die for a Time Tag! The background is a mix of Aged Mahogany and Fired Brick Distress Stains spritzed with gold perfect pearls and edged with gold acrylic. The stamps are from Oak House Studio's Inspirational Words set.

Hope you like and thanks for looking!

Just a Note

First tag of the year that hopefully fits Hels Sunday Stamper Challenge with the theme of Anything Goes.

I treated myself for Christmas to a surprise box of goodies when Lin Brown closed her shop so thought I'd use some of it as all the bits and pieces get tidied away. The stamps are a Darcies set and I've used a Nick Bantock Cerulean Azure ink pad - actually one I've covetted for a long while as it's such a rich deep turquoise. I've blended with distress inks and finished with a ruffle of script vellum and some ribbon etc.

So just a note to thank you all for reading my blog, leaving such encouraging comments and putting pressure on me to blog regularly. I'll do my best!!

Happy New Year everyone and Happy Crafting.
