May and it's Magenta

No exams this morning so thought I'd have a go at my May page for The Craft Barn's Calendar Challenge - the words this month are MAGENTA and FLOWERS.   I'm using 14cm squares which will be stuck onto A5 black card and bound at the top to create a flip calendar.

I'm not really a pink person but when the theme is magenta then you have to go the whole hog!!  The background is a pale mix of Picked Raspberry Distress Ink which I also used to stamp the Clematis Tower (from Oak House Studio) in the top right corner.   For the main image I stamped the Clematis Tower with Onyx Black Versafine, clear embossed it and coloured with Pentel Colour Brushes.  To tone down the pink a bit I've edged it with Seedless Preserves Paint and framed the May calendar with purple card. 

It's a bit crinkly I'm afraid but I'm sure it'll straighten out before the year's out.  I think you'll agree it fits the bill of magenta and flowers!!

Think Pink

Here's my card for this week's Less is More Challenge where the theme is to COMBINE ANY 3 PAST CHALLENGES.  You would think this was easy but with 216 different ideas to choose from it's very difficult to focus on just 3 things.    I've chosen:

 1    Pink, Black and White      111  Frame it       172 Flowers

I've used the Clematis Tower stamp from Oak House Studio embossed with Midnight Sparkle powder and then watercoloured with markers.  Halfway through doing the green leaves I remembered I'd chosen Pink, Black and White so the green can fit in the Flower challenge!!    I've just stamped the Script Sentiment in black and drawn round the card to create a frame. 

It's ended up a lot like last week's card but with more flowers!   Hope you like and thanks for popping by.   Thanks also if you leave a comment - they are much appreciated.

Purple Clematis

Here's my clean and simple card for the Less is More Challenge - it's a Lucky Dip week where the theme is to use SCALLOPS.

I've silver embossed a small section of the Clematis Tower stamp (Oak House Studio) and coloured this with some Pental Metallic Markers to give it a little shine.  I then used my scallop dies to cut out the flower and a darker purple mat and just fastened them on the card with some silver mesh.

Decided to stay in today and keep out of the cold so I've been crafting, cooking dinner and watching the Touring Car championship.  Whatever you've been doing, stay warm and enjoy your Easter!!

Thursday again!

So where did that week go?? Can't believe it's Thursday again and I still haven't done any crafting...oh dear. I can however show you a bookmark I made for the latest Craft Stamper swap - I forgot to take a photo of it when I made it in May and whilst it didn't get in the magazine, it is featured as an extra one on their website so I copied it!!!


The bookmark had to be done in sage, pink and mauve. I embossed the Clematis Tower stamp in white and then used Bundled Sage Distress Ink for the background. The Clematis is painted in Twinkling H20s and then finished off with some ribbon and beads. Hope you like it!

I suppose I ought to go back to my chores - don't faint, but I've already cleaned the kitchen floor this morning. Hopefully it'll take a while to dry ..... and i can browse more!!!

Rhinestone Cowgirl

Here's my card for the Sunday Stampers Challenge 110 with the theme of Rhinestone Cowboy - check out Hels blog for all the details.

I was dithering about what to do until I saw The Craft Barn's new competition for unusually shaped cards. So I decided to combine the two and use Rhinestones on a Cowboy (or rather Cowgirl) Boot!


The boot is cut from leather effect card, the Clematis Tower (Oak House Studio) was embossed in silver, watercoloured and cut to fit and then the whole thing was finished off with some inking of the edges, fringing and rhinestones.

I have to admit having a pair of boots this colour many years ago - the blue, not the white!! Not sure I'd go out in these but if the occasion arose, well I think I might ...... hope you like!

Did you see it?

Did you watch Oak House Studio on TV this morning? I thought the programme went well with plenty of time on the products and demos. Several of my cards were shown and my metally pen pot - as it has an M on the front then that's an early birthday present for Martin!!!

For those of you who like clematis then here are a couple of my cards. The first is just a very simple Thinking of You/Sympathy card. The Clematis Tower was embossed on a section of white card, and then embossed a few more times to give other sections for decoupaging on top of the main image and for behind the sentiment. This stamp has 6 flowers so can be cut in various different ways to provide several layers.


The next card is a gatefold, wrap over card or a blouse card as I call it as the clematis look like the ruffles on the front of a blouse. I used the 'mopping' technique with Kaleidacolor inks and a gold mica spray to create the papers - the first sheet I embossed the Clematis Tower three times in gold and the second sheet I used more of a watery spray to create a lighter colourway for the insert.


If you missed the programme it's going to be repeated tonight at 10pm and tomorrow at 5am and Lynnda will be on TV again on April 16th I think.....watch this space!

Clematis

Well its been better than I thought it was going to be - even been outside pottering in the garden, clearing away the winter clutter. The early daffodils are well and truly out and I can just about see the flower heads on the tulips.
So my thoughts turn to the clematis - it's not really a spring flower but I've decided one would look good on my back fence. But which one and what colour? Maybe purple with a pinkish centre....

Here's a section of my Thinking of You/Sympathy card - if you want to see it all, then you'll have to watch Freeview 36 on Tuesday at 11am. Hopefully it'll get shown but if time runs out, then I'll put the full version on here next week.
I've used the Clematis Tower stamp embossed in Midnight Sparkle and painted with Aquash. The beauty of this stamp is it's size - a nice big focal stamp that can be used whole or cut into various different sections and decoupaged.
