Detail Embossing Powder

If you have ever wondered what the difference is between Standard Embossing Powder and Detail Embossing Powder then go take a look at my post on the Oak House Studio blog.

For the majority of embossing, standard embossing powder is good but for fine lined stamps, intricate patterns and fine lettering then you do really need to use Detail powder.   The card below shows a combination of both grades of powders - Detail for the wording and Dog Rose and then standard powder for the faux soldering frame around the edges.  For more information then please go take a look at my blog post HERE.

Damson Dragon

Here's my next ATC for The Craft Barn's Alpha Dictionary Challenge where the letter is D. Interesting as there are 46 pages of Ds in my dictionary but very few nouns - Damson is the only colour so I've gone with that, then decided to choose DRAGON protecting a Diamond (DD's idea).

The background is a mix of Dusty Concord and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink spritzed with water for the damson colour. I've stamped the small Harlequin stamp with Dusty Concord in 2 corners and doodled in the other 2 corners with a purple Sharpie. I've used the ATC Dragon from Oak House Studio inked with Onyx Black Versafine and clear embossed to make him stand out more. I've added a Diamond brad, the dictionary definition and the alcohol inked vinyl Thicker.

As I said before, I only noted a few words - one was Decorative Arts and the other was Digerati which is someone who uses computers a lot....I think both words describe most of us who blog. Anyway hope you like my ATC and thanks for looking!!

Dragon Pen Pot

Oriental Moongates

Oriental Matchbook

I'm Guest Designer over on the Oak House Studio blog for the month of March and today I'm showing my first project using a selection of Oriental Stamps.

You may say you don't do oriental but please come across and take a look.  All the Dragons are beautifully detailed (all hand drawn by Lynnda) and are great to use.  My project today is traditionally red, black and white - I started out with this:

Animals

Tricky challenge on Hels Sunday Stamper this week - the theme is animals and whilst I have loads of bird stamps, I don't have any animals except this dragon.  I'm hoping this fit the bill!!

The background is a mix of Barn Door and Dusty Concord Distress Inks spritzed with Oak House Studio's Colour Chemistry Ink in a Bottle (Jubilee Red) to try and create an imperial/royal tone.  All the stamps are Oak House Studio too - Diana's Dragon is gold embossed and coloured around the fringes with purple marker and the oriental text is stamped with Dusty Concord.  The tag is just finished with ribbon and a chinese charm.

I'm not sure I really like this tag but I do love the stamp and dragons are real aren't they???  Anyway thanks for looking and hope you're all keeping nice and warm.... it's very blustery here!!

Less is More - Script 2

Here's my second card for the Less is More one layer challenge week 58 where SCRIPT has to be used.


I was looking through my stamps yesterday and came across this Oriental Script. Not sure anyone has done an oriental card this week so thought I'd have a go. The dragon, script and symbols are all Oak House Studio stamps inked with Jet Black and Vermillion Archival. The symbols are for Happiness, Friendship and Luck (I think).

Hope you like..... I'm just putting off doing the ironing!!

Dragon Stamp

I've just realised it's the Chinese New Year today and 2012 is the Year of the Dragon so had a quick look through the archives to see if I could find a card that was appropriate. And here it is:


It features an Oak House Studio Dragon stamped on acetate with Stazon. For the background I've used Alcohol Inks dabbed with Blending Solution to create the circles and then matted this over gold card. It's very shiny in real life!!

Let's hope the Year of the Dragon is a good year!

Gold (and Black)

Here's my entry for the Sunday Stampers 102 challenge with a GOLD theme. I haven't joined in with many challenges - just started blogging - but I've decided the only way I'm going to keep up is to go with the idea that first pops into my head and try and use up all those scrappy pieces of card and paper in my bit box. It's getting a bit full so I have a choice between using some up or buying another box.....tempting!

I'm guessing black is allowed with gold. Black isn't strictly a colour and I needed something to show the gold off!! I just used a selection of Oak House Studio's oriental stamps - dragon, script, lucky day symbol and seal - and fiddled about for half an hour making my tassles out of very lively gold thread. The dragon is stamped on acetate and the seal is triple embossed.

Anyway I suppose I ought to go and rescue my hoover that I abandoned halfway through the morning ....or maybe not!!
