Tim's Tag - St Swithins

Don't faint....I'm here with another post.  I suddenly had a idea for Tim's July Tag - I had nothing to do his USA tag with but yesterday here in the UK  was St Swithins Day so I've gone along that theme.....and yes it did rain!  All details are on  Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015.

Whilst Tim did stars and stripes, mine is vaguely based on the design of a Union Jack so diagonals, triangles and red lines.  The Union Jack and the English Rose stamps are from Oak House Studio, coloured with Tombow markers and torn etc.  The words and 15th July are printed on the computer with the date attached to a fragment and then stripey crinkled seam binding to finish.

Thanks for visiting and if you leave a comment, then thanks once again - they are very much appreciated.

Tim's Tag for May 2015

Well I've done all my chores so thought I'd have a play at Tim Holtz's Tag for May 2015.  If you have no idea what I am on about then click the link and see.

Looking through my stash I came across this photo of Winston Churchill and with all the coverage of the VE Day 70th Celebrations I thought I'd follow that theme.   The base is like Tim's in that I stuck some hessian to a tag,  added some Grungepaste through a stencil and inked that with Vintage Photo Distress.   I also used that to colour some seam binding.   Otherwise I've just added various images found on the net - a newspaper headline, a 1945 calendar - and I printed off the words to use.

My daughter helps in the local museum and they had a party yesterday afternoon - she mocked up some ration books and they had paste sandwiches etc.  They also had small cakes with little Union Jack flags so I pinched one of those to carry on the patriotic feel!!

Hope you like my interpretation and thanks for visiting.

Tim's Tag for April 2015

Well it's the start of a new month and time for Tim Holtz's Tag for April - click on the link if you have no idea what I am talking about!

It's a beautiful tag but another difficult one for me. When you see the amount of stash I have 'stashed' about my house, you'd think I'd have more than a tag ..... but oh no!!   And it's not a kraft tag either.  But the whole reason I do the challenge is to challenge myself - if I haven't got it, use something else.

So to start I blended Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo Distress to create a 'vintage' tag.  For the flower I chose to use the large Rose from Oak House Studio and spritzed over that with Bundled Sage and Tumbled Glass Re-inker (I have no distress markers!!).  The Rose is coloured with Pentel Brush Markers and a waterbrush and then spritzed with black ink (using a toothbrush and my finger!!).

Next problem was the wording.  I die-cut the NOW out of the spritzed card and stuck it on and the BLOOM was some glitter stickers that I coloured with a black Sharpie.  Close enough I think!!      And after all that I didn't have the heart to unbury my sewing machine so just used a pen instead to create a frame and finished with some two-tone seam binding.

I'm not sure I enjoyed doing this one so much but it's part of the set and I've made it.   Thanks for popping by to look and many thanks for leaving a comment.

Happy Easter.

Tim's Tag - March 2015

Here's my interpretation of Tim Holtz's Tag for March 2015 - if you have no idea what I am talking about then click HERE for full details.   As always I don't have many of the correct supplies but it's fun finding alternatives.

For the background I used Seedless Preserves Distress Paint and luckily I have Picket Fence so I mixed that with some Distress re-inkers - Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn and Salty Ocean.   I don't have the new Butterfly stamp but used the one from the Fairytale Frenzy set instead.  The good news is I had an alphabet stencil,  Grungepaste and embossing powder so that bit is OK - I did go for silver to match my background better and probably heated it too soon as it definitely bubbled etc.  Anyway it's just finished with the Found Objects plate, some painted gears and distressed seam binding.

As Tim says, Embrace Imperfection ....I think I've probably done that this  time and I definitely fancy having another go at the embossed texture paste.  Thanks for popping by and if you leave a comment, thanks once again!!

Tim's 12 Tags - February 2015

Here's my interpretation of Tim Holtz's Tag for February 2015 - if you don't know, then all the details can be found on his blog.   This is the only challenge I do where I do try to copy the original but it's always fun finding alternatives to create  with.  For this one I had some Glue & Seal and an arrow!

The collage background is a mix of stuff - old music, dictionary and the February definition, an old seed packet, tickets and the mini playing card.  I followed his instructions, added some stamping and outlined in orange to keep it bright!! I diecut a frame, added the felt heart (with staples, not sewing)  and finished with the arrow etc.   The heart hanging from the arrow and the playing card were both out of crackers - my family must think I'm barmy saving all these bits but sometimes they do come in useful.

I'm also entering this in the Vintage Journey Challenge where it's time to play Tic Tac Toe - I've used some of Tim's Idea-ology Arrows, the Ephemera is some Salvage Stickers on the collaged  background and used Ripe Persimmon Distress Stain on the tickets and seam binding.

Collaged backgrounds are not really my thing but I have to say it came out better than I expected.  Hope you like and thanks for popping by!!

Tim's Tag - January 2015

I'm having trouble getting started this year but thought I'd have a go at Tim Holtz's first tag for 2015.  The tag and all the instructions can be found HERE - as ever I have very few of the products he used so I've improvised.

I do have some tissue wrap but it's obviously in a safe place as I can't find it.....so I've used some script vellum for the base and coloured it with Mowed Lawn and Peacock Feathers Stains, mixed with Picket Fence Paint and sprayed with Walnut Tree re-inker.

I've added the Chit Chat stickers and covered with Glue and Seal.

The numbers are Vinyl Thickers covered with Gold Dabber and with some Gold Stickles added to the 5.

I've added some Snowcap Dabber and more Gold Stickles to the background and finished with dyed seam binding and a bell off a Lindt Reindeer that was on my table......so I'm ringing in the New Year!!

I'm not sure I like the end result but I do enjoy the challenge of finding an alternative if I haven't got what Tim used.  Having rummaged around in my boxes I've decided I really don't NEED any more stash but then I've seen some of the CHA peaks.....oh dear....

Anyway thanks for popping by and please leave a comment - they are very much appreciated!!
