Tim's Tag - May 2014
Here's my take on Tim Holtz's 12 tags of 2014 for May. I have to say I enjoyed the rummage through my 'metals' box and came across lots of stuff I'd forgotten I had ..... I think I needed a bigger tag too!!
Anyway I decided to go bright so the tag is a swooshy mix of Barn Door, Aged Mahogany and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks and behind the charms is a swooshy mix of Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass and Broken China. I've glued the card to some chipboard, edged with Faded Jeans and added a little stamping. I don't have anything to emboss words with so just used some Thickers.
I can't believe I've got this tag done so early, but we have a nice long weekend so lots of time to play as well as do the boring household stuff. Thanks for looking and if you leave a comment - many thanks, they are much appreciated!!

Tim's Tag - April Flowers
Well I'm running out of time this month so I'm combining two challenges - A Vintage Journey where the theme is Spring Flowers and Tim's Tag for April 2014.
We were away at Easter visiting family and drove along the A17 in Lincolnshire with the sun shining. If you don't know the area then it's where the daffodil bulbs are grown - as far as you can see, fields and fields of daffodils in stripes of yellow, orange, cream narcissus, more yellow, more orange and a few tulips too. Such a glorious sight!!
So my design is based on Tim's Tag with a background of Snowcap Dabber, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks over homemade tissue tape. I've used Tim's Tattered Florals die with some free papers, inked the edges and made the flowers. For the foliage and trellis I've used Memory Box dies coloured with Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles and Vintage Photo Distress Inks, added some shiny and coloured bits etc and finished with seam binding and a word tag.
It's exceedingly yellow which is not normally me but I love bright flowers in the Spring. Thanks for visiting and for your comments - they are always very much appreciated!!

Tim's Tag - March 2014
Well another month and another improvisation session to create Tim Holtz's Tag for March 2014.
I started this month with just the tag really, none of the correct stamps or extras. Instead of the nest, I've used the Beech Tree stamp (Oak House Studio) inked with Vintage Photo and smudged a bit. The feather stamp is from a Chocolate Baroque set and the egg is done using a hand cut paper mask inked with Broken China and then splodged with Walnut Stain using an acrylic block.
I've blended Bundled Sage on the background, added some Broken China through the Faded Dot stencil and edged the tag with Walnut Stain. I've added some Birds on a Wire (Tim Holtz stamp) with Jet Black Archival, handwritten the figs and finished with seam binding, paper string and a label stamped with a Hero Arts alphabet.
Talking of nature, this is a photo I woke up to the other morning.
Students get a bad press, dossing in bed till lunchtime etc but my daughter is studying Zoology down in Cornwall and they had a 5.30am wake up call the other morning to go study some birds!! Now that is cute!

Tim's Tag - February 2014
Here's my interpretation of Tim Holtz's Tag for the 12 Tags of 2014 Challenge. I say interpretation as I have very little of the supplies he used but it's a case of rummaging through the stash, using something similar and trying out the techniques.
I have no pale brown Distress Inks so I used Vintage Photo and Worn Lipstick for the base of the tag. I don't have the Hearts stencil so I used the Dot Fade one instead. I cut a heart out of grungeboard and coated that with Christmas Red Stickles plus extra red glitter. The arrow I fashioned from Paperartsy's Metal on Card, the bottom border is painted with Silver Dabber and I stamped Oak House Studio's Enjoy What You Do stamp with White Dabber onto a Black Chalk ATC and then rubbed over it with chalk.
So I've made a tag and had fun doing it. I've had to think what to use and found stuff I'd forgotten I had. I think I might be buying the Idea-ology arrows though when I find some in the UK - I have friends who do archery and I'm from Robin Hood country so I'm sure they'll come in useful.
Thanks for looking and for your kind comments.

Tim's Tag - January 2014
Happy New Year to you all!
Here's my first offering for 2014 - a tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2014. I should thank him really as I've had chance to have a good rummage through my stash and remind myself what I have and that it all needs a darned good sort out!! For this challenge I only had the Chit Chat stickers and a spinner so everything else is improvised.
I've used Iced Spruce and Pine Needles Distress Inks with TH's Clockwork Mask for the background. The stamps are from TH's Fairytale Frenzy and Stuff to Say sets. The clock is made up from a Heidi Swapp Clock stamp, with a silver embossed frame, a gear and a spinner. The date I made using Hero Arts Alphabet stamps with a fragment and it's finished with some scrunchy ribbon coloured with distress inks.
I'm hoping to make useful stuff this year in challenges ...otherwise I end up with piles of tags that I don't know what to do with. This may well get framed with the other 11 should I finish them all! What does everyone else do with their makes???
Well thanks for visiting and reading my waffle. I do wish you a very creative 2014 and hope you are all safe and dry and that this wind and rain wears itself out!!
