Christmas Wreath and more!

The new Oak House Studio Challenge for November has the theme of WINTER - so winter scenes, Christmas etc etc.  I've made a few cards that hopefully will inspire you to have a go - there's a prize to be won.

For my first card I've used the Christmas Wreath set - 7 stamps including branches, holly leaves and ivy plus a sentiment.  It was designed so you can build your own wreath but in this case I've just created a corner of foliage.    I've used buff card and stamped with Yummy Chocolate, Forest Green and Green as Grass Pigment inks.  The Wishing you a Merry Christmas sentiment is gold embossed and I've added some Stickles for berries.

My other card is totally different and uses the Block Frame stamp - I saw someone use it as a window frame looking out to a moody sky but I decided to look from outside in.   I've used Yummy Chocolate Pigment Ink for the frame, and then using a Brick Mask stamped Winter Words and blended ink through to create the outside of the house.  Inside the net curtains are the Mack Rose stamped on vellum, the wallpaper is linen card and I've coloured both with Paris Pink Ink in a Bottle.  The Christmas Tree is embossed with Black Sparkle and coloured with Citrus Lime Ink in a Bottle.  I've added a few gems which caught the flash on my camera and I hope you'll agree it definitely looks Christmassy!

Pop over to the Oak House Studio blog for more inspiration throughout the month - I have another card to show you on Wednesday!   You can find further details on facebook - the Oak House Studio page or the INKspired group - its a closed group purely to keep spammers out so do ask to join.

If you have any Oak House Studio stamps and inks, then please enter the Challenge and keep an eye out for new stamps including Fireworks and Celebrate words!

Christmas Corner Decoration

Today is  ONE STAMP, ONE DAY over at OAK HOUSE STUDIO where the Design Team and anyone else who wants to join in make projects using just one stamp.  This time it is the CHRISTMAS CORNER stamp - a mix of Holly and Hellebores. It's one of the first Christmas stamps I drew about 8 years ago when Oak House Studio was born.

For my project I've made this Christmas hanger using the Acrylic Inks on Acetate and full details are on the Oak House Studio blog today.

The Acrylic Inks dry beautifully on the wood and acetate so I'm thinking they'll be great for metal and glass painting too.....and they are such a deep vibrant colour.

I've also made an Inchie necklace using a 1" square piece of Stambord - a new product on the Oak House Studio website.   For this I stamped a section of the Christmas Corner, painted with the Acrylic Inks and sealed it with 2 layers of clear embossing powder.

The Christmas Corner is lovely for making cards too and here are a few more ideas.

As you can see it is detailed enough to just stamp for quick and easy cards or it can be layered and beads added etc.   For more ideas please visit the Oak House Studio blog (8am-8pm) or take a look on Facebook - at the Oak House Studio page or  Inkspired by Oak House Studio - this is a closed group to keep out the spammers but if you would like to join, just ask!

Many thanks for looking and I hope you find some ideas ready for those Christmas makes!!

Shabby Chic?

I spotted a strip of corrugated card and decided to go for a shabby chic hanging with browns and blues for my next Poinsettia project for the ONE STAMP event.

I've used Glorious Gold Ink in a Bottle and white and gold acrylic paint for the bases and various stamps on this - the Enjoy What You Do stamped in Sea Green Pigment Ink, the Walesby Flourish stamped in Midnight Pigment Ink and the Winter Garden Text stamped with gold acrylic paint. Obviously I've used the large Poinsettia stamp inked with Midnight Pigment Ink on card sprayed with Totally Turquoise Ink in a Bottle.

For full details and to check out all the projects go to the Oak House Studio blog and see other projects on the One Stamp facebook page.  Hope you've been inspired!

Calendar Tags

Here's another idea for using the Poinsettia stamp - as December's tag for a  Calendar.

I've gold embossed the large Poinsettia stamp from Oak House Studio twice - once on green card for the base and again on red card sprayed with Glorious Gold Ink in a Bottle. . For full details and to check out all the projects go to the Oak House Studio blog and see other projects on the One Stamp facebook page.

Thank you everyone for looking and for your comments.  It's been an enjoyable weekend and I hope you've been inspired!

Less is More - Script

Here's a one layer card made for the Less is More challenge week 58 where a script and sentiment have to be used.

I've just stamped the Winter Garden Text stamp twice with Colour Chemistry Powder Blue ink, overstamped this with the Imagine block and finished off with the Beech Tree silhouette in the corner. The text and tree stamps are Oak House Studio and Imagine is from The Artistic Stamper.

It's such a lovely day today - maybe Spring is here. Thought I'd use the winter tree and text whilst I still can!! Thank you for looking and for all your lovely comments over the last few weeks.

Beadazzles

Just spotted the micro bead challenge on The Craft Barn's blog so thought I'd have a go at making an ATC using Beadazzles. As you can see, I seem to be stuck in my autumn leaf rut!!

The Sycamore leaf was stamped onto a distress ink background (Bundled Sage, Rusty Hinge and Vintage Photo) and then clear embossed. The Beadazzles Jazz - a mix of silver, gold and copper - were then stuck on using Copper Stickles. I'd forgotten how minute and lively they are so decided to put another layer of Stickles over the top and to edge the leaf too. I simply mounted it on another piece of the distressed background overstamped with the Winter Garden Text

Hope you like it! I'm now going to put my leaf stamps away and do something completely different next time...... famous last words!!

Christmas & Craft Stamper

Well I have it on good authority that my Mini Christmas Card made it into the December 2010 issue of Craft Stamper magazine - yeh!!!

I haven't had chance to buy a copy yet so have no idea what else is in there but I thought I'd let you know how I made it.

I've used Oak House Studio's Christmas Corner, Winter Garden Text and Merry Christmas stamps and the brief was to use red, green and gold to produce a 4" x 4" card.

I've gold embossed the Winter Garden Text, edged it with gold Stickles and then matted it up onto green then red card. This stamp is great for all sorts of cards - it does include Holly and Hellebores which fits with the Christmas Corner stamp perfectly, but it doesn't actually mention christmas so can be used for any winter/early spring cards.

The Christmas Corner was again embossed in gold and painted with Twinkling H20s. I think I did 3 of these so that I could use 2 layered for the main corner and then use the other to decorate the Merry Christmas. I just finished it off with some red Stickles in the Hellebore centres and a few small red beads for the Holly berries.

Hope you like it. Yes, I know it's the beginning of November, but showing this card has actually made me feel more christmassy so maybe I'll get my christmas stamps out and have a play.

Winter Leaves

This week has been a bit black and white ....well a lot of black and white actually. I've been doing samples for the stand at Stitches. Last year we kept to a red, black and white theme which attracted lots of interest and even had Suze Weinberg getting her camera out. So this year we thought we'd do it a little different and go for a black, white and red theme. Can you tell the difference?

This is a scrapbook page using the winter leaves - holly, ivy and build your own poinsettia - together with the Winter Garden Text stamp. Whilst these stamps can be used for christmassy cards and layouts, they fit perfectly with wintery photos like this Scots Pine taken on a very frosty day.

Watch this space for more peaks on the black and white theme.
