Tim's Tag - February 2014

Here's my interpretation of Tim Holtz's Tag for the 12 Tags of 2014 Challenge.   I say interpretation as I have very little of the supplies he used but it's a case of rummaging through the stash, using something similar and trying out the techniques.

I have no pale brown Distress Inks so I used Vintage Photo and Worn Lipstick for the base of the tag.  I don't have the Hearts stencil so I used the Dot Fade one instead.  I cut a heart out of grungeboard and coated that with Christmas Red Stickles plus extra red glitter.  The arrow I fashioned from Paperartsy's Metal on Card, the bottom border is painted with Silver Dabber and I stamped Oak House Studio's Enjoy What You Do stamp with White Dabber onto a Black Chalk ATC and then rubbed over it with chalk.

So I've made a tag and had fun doing it.  I've had to think what to use and found stuff I'd forgotten I had.  I think I might be buying the Idea-ology arrows though when I find some in the UK - I have friends who do archery and I'm from Robin Hood country so I'm sure they'll come in useful.

Thanks for looking and for your kind comments.

Shabby Chic?

I spotted a strip of corrugated card and decided to go for a shabby chic hanging with browns and blues for my next Poinsettia project for the ONE STAMP event.

I've used Glorious Gold Ink in a Bottle and white and gold acrylic paint for the bases and various stamps on this - the Enjoy What You Do stamped in Sea Green Pigment Ink, the Walesby Flourish stamped in Midnight Pigment Ink and the Winter Garden Text stamped with gold acrylic paint. Obviously I've used the large Poinsettia stamp inked with Midnight Pigment Ink on card sprayed with Totally Turquoise Ink in a Bottle.

For full details and to check out all the projects go to the Oak House Studio blog and see other projects on the One Stamp facebook page.  Hope you've been inspired!

Inky Doors!

After 6 weeks of exams at the local school I have at last had chance to play!  I had a request to use Oak House Studio's Ink in a Bottle and that's what I've done to create a door hanger.

A while back I entered a challenge where we had to make something using the colours of our front door....well mine is white pvc but it does have a stained glass kingfisher in it so lots of blues, oranges and greens.  For more details of this project check out the Oak House Studio blog.  I've used Jubilee Blue, Citrus Lime, Peacock Green, Citrus Yellow, Citrus Orange and Jubilee Red Ink in a Bottle - it soaks into wood and card beautifully giving you a soft look or a really intense colour!!

All the Inks in a Bottle, Pigment Ink Pads, Sunflowers and Enjoy Stamps I used can be found here.

Thanks for taking the time to look.  Lynnda is having a give away so don't forget to leave a comment on the post here for your chance to win some Inks in a Bottle!!

Enjoy Spring

A Spring card this time to brighten up your day....made using the Decorative Diamond stamp for Oak House Studio's ONE STAMP event.

Another simple card with a two tone background.  I've inked the Decorative Diamonds and the Enjoy stamp with  Colour Chemistry Spring Green Pigment Ink Pad and clear embossed.

ONE STAMP CHALLENGE
Lynnda has been at the Oak House Studio all weekend crafting  for 24hrs with just this one stamp to show how versatile a stamp can be.  She's been stamping on card, wood, glass, metal, silk etc. Follow the event online, I've been posting here all weekend, the Design Team have projects  on the OAK HOUSE STUDIO BLOG and others have been posting on the ONE STAMP page on Facebook.

This is my last post....unless I make something else!  Hope you've enjoyed looking at my projects and thank you for your support over the weekend.  Lynnda still has another 90 minutes to go so I'm sure she'll be posting later!!

Enjoy Embossing

Another ATC for The Craft Barn's Alpha Dictionary Challenge where this week the letter is E.

I couldn't think of any of my stamps that began with E so read through my dictionary and liked the look of Emboss, Emerald and Enjoy and thought I'd combine the three.  The background is a mix of Mowed Lawn Distress and Fresh Green Versacolour mixed with water and mopped up.  I've dry embossed this with Tim Holtz's Checkerboard Embossing Folder, swiped over a little Versamark and then heat embossed it with Gold EP.

My (main) chosen word is ENJOY so the focus is this Oak House Studio stamp embossed with Verdigris EP.  The ATC is just finished with the torn dictionary definition and an alcohol inked white vinyl Thicker - Pesto, Meadow and a smidge of Sailboat Blue.

My dictionary is not a standard one - it's designed for foreign students studying other subjects in English, so the definitions are sometimes a bit strange.  But at least this time I did find a colour to base my design on and when I saw emboss, well I had to include embossing as well.

Hope you like and thanks for looking.  Thank you also for all your kind comments on my previous ATCs - they are very much appreciated!!

Less is More

This week's Less is More challenge is to take Inspiration from the Less is More Header so here is my card.

I've copied the colour scheme and the general design with music, flourishes and a main word stamp.  I haven't a decent music stamp so I used a peel off as a mask and sponged over this with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The flourish is from The Artistic Stamper and the Enjoy stamp is from Oak House Studio both stamped in Jet Black Archival. I've just matted the words onto card coloured with Vintage Photo to make it stand out.

Rain stopped gardening this afternoon so thought I'd do some crafting instead.  Hope you like the card!!

Enjoy

Here's a quick card made for the Less is More challenge week 60 - it's a Take 3 Challenge where you have to use the theme from 3 previous challenges.

As I only started doing these challenges at Christmas I had plenty of ideas to choose from. I've chosen:
Week 10 - Sentiment only
Week 22 - Shades of Blue
Week 25 - Ribbon

I have an idea for second card but that'll have to wait for another day - the weather is too nice to stay in crafting for too long!! Hope you all had a great weekend.

Mists

Here's a tag I've made for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge 196 with the theme of MISTY.

I've used a couple of tags I made about a month ago for this. The base is Cosmic Shimmer Chalk Mists in purple and blue with some Craftynotions Pink Lustre spray over a Glimmer Screen. The Enjoy stamp uses the second tag which was made using the Pink Lustre with the Glimmer Screen. It's just finished off with some navy ribbon and paper flowers misted with the Pink Lustre again.

It's really difficult taking a photo to show off the mica - it's just too bright and sunny. Not that I'm complaining!! Have a lovely day everyone.

Blowing Bubbles

I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles is the theme song for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge this week and here's my card.

I've included both Blowing and Bubbles!! I used various alcohol inks, glossy card and a straw for the backgrounds. Then I wrapped an acrylic block with bubble wrap, swiped it with Chipped Sapphire Distress Stain and stamped it on the blue piece. It's just finished with a new Oak House Studio stamp ENJOY.

I did enjoy playing; just had to stop every now and again to stop myself hyperventilating!!
