Words

Here's a quick post with a tag done for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge week 207 which has the theme of WORDS.

The background is a mix of Archival Resist and Rusted Enamel!! I've used a Darkroom Door Journey Wordblock stamped in Coffee Archival, inked over that with Broken China Distress Ink, clear embossed it and then blended over with Pine Needles DI. I think it was a bit warm last night and the inks were drying too quick but it does give a nice glossy mottled effect.

The Tim Holtz images were stamped in Coffee Archival on kraft card and I've just finished with some seam binding soaked in distress inks and stamped with Enjoy the Journey.

Hope you like and thanks for looking!!

Circular Card

The theme this week on the Less is More challenge week 69 is to make something that is NOT A SQUARE (or Rectangular).

I've just gone for a circular card - drew round a small plate with gold pen and cut out leaving a nice gold border. The main stamp is Oak House Studio's Walesby Flourish stamped in Manganese Blue Archival and the words round the edge are from a Hero Arts Friendship Messages set. I do prefer rubber stamps, but one of the advantages of clear stamps is that you can bend them on the block to match the curve of the card. I've just finished with some white organza.

Well are we going to win Eurovision this year? Sat blogging whilst watching the Hump - sounds a good ballad but I think the ending spoilt it!! Anyway thanks for looking at my card.

Thanks Tim (& Mario)

Well look what the postman brought me!!

I was lucky enough to win in Tim's 12 Tags of 2012 for my April tag - here.

I was gobsmacked when I saw my name on the winners' list and wrote to Mario accordingly. He was very polite and explained they don't use gobsmacked in the USA but he knew what I meant!!

Anyway thanks Tim for your inspiration and for the stamp set..... can't wait to use it!! And thanks to all those people that have looked at my tag and for your kind comments - I've had over 600 views of that one post. Mind blowing!

Artistic Circles

Here's a tag for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge week 206 where the theme is CIRCLES.

Well I have loads of Oak House Studio circle stamps so the background was easy!! I used various stamps from the Round Palette set with Distress Inks - Barn Door, Aged Mahogany, Fired Brick and Spiced Marmalade - and then blended over with Mustard Seed. Next I overstamped with the Journalling Circles in Jet Black Archival and added some seam binding coloured with Distress Inks.

Now is there anyone else out there who does the same as me - makes a background then doesn't know how to finish it off?? I looked at a quotes website for inspiration and came up with a good quote - The World is Round so Friendship can Encircle it - but that didn't seem to fit my tag. Then there were Mathematical Definitions etc. Then I got onto Circles of Friends and Artistic Circles which I thought sums up blogland nicely.... so I stamped that with a Pixie Alphabet from Hero Arts.

Hope you like and thanks for looking!!

Baby Girl

Here's a card I've made for the Less is More week 68 challenge which has the theme of Baby or Child.

Stumped this week as I have no cute/baby/child stamps so what to do?? Had a rummage through my stash and found a bag of buttons so that's what I've used. The heart is an old Elusive Images one stamped in Imperial Plum Archival and I've just glued a selection of baby pink buttons around the edge. The card is finished with a Congratulations sentiment matted on silver mirri.

My niece's baby is due shortly so hopefully she'll have a girl and I have a ready made card to send.......however knowing my luck, it'll be a boy!!
Anyway thanks for looking.

Crowns

Here's a quick tag for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge week 205 which has the theme of QUEEN and CROWNS.

The background is a mix of Stormy Sky, Dusty Concord and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks over a stamped Union Jack. Now last week the background was stunning...this week, not so good so I've tried to cover it up. There are some Hero Arts Castle Icons under the words, the crowns are Maya Road chipboard ones covered with Gold Dabber and I've just finished off with some eyelash fibres. And yes, I have put RAIN rather than REIGN....it's pelting at the windows again!!

Not sure I'm too happy with this one but I'm not going to have time to have another go this week, so I'm going to post it anyway. In my head this was going to be umbrella man turned into a queen with a crown on his head, a red velvet cloak with eyelash fibres for ermine and a gold umbrella!! Now that would have been good but....... thanks for looking!!

Roses

Here's a one layer card for the Less is More challenge 67 where the stipulation is to use just Three Stamps.

I had a good look through my stamps trying to decide what to use and which ones would go together. In the end I chose my PSX Rosa stamped in Jet Black Archival and then coloured with Pentel Brush Markers creating a very vibrant colour. I stamped the Thank You in Dark Peony Chalk Ink and having masked this and the rose, I overstamped with part of the English Garden Text stamp - both these are from Oak House Studio. Love this stamp as it's a nice scripty font and the words do mention roses!!

Thanks for looking and for any comments you leave. It makes blogging so worthwhile!!

Brown and Blue

Here's a tag I've made for Hels Sunday Stamper challenge week 204 with the theme of Brown and Blue.

The background is a mix of Vintage Photo and Old Paper Distress Inks and Walnut Stain Re-inker spritzed with water and mopped up. I have to say this came out a whole lot darker than I intended but I love it - who says brown is dull!!

I just blended on some Broken China and Stormy Sky around the edges and then went searching for a big butterfly stamp to maybe create a moth!! Didn't have one so just added some ribbon and a Tim Holtz sentiment from his Stuff to Say set.

Thanke for looking!!

Yellow

Here's a quick card for the Less is More challenge week 66 with the theme of YELLOW.

As it's been dull and grey for so long now, what better colour to choose to cheer us all up. I've used Sunshine Yellow, Butterscotch, Latte and a smidge of Pitch Black alcohol inks on the acetate panel and then added a sentiment from a Darcees My Type set of stamps.

Very simple this week but bright and cheerful I hope you will agree!!

One Stamp Challenge

Lynnda at Oak House Studio is undertaking a ONE STAMP challenge - 24hrs on 9th-10th June attempting to show you 101 ways to use the CLEMATIS TOWER stamp. Well maybe not 101, but as many as time allows!! It's such a versatile stamp that looks great on cards, but also frames, scrapbook pages, boxes etc etc.

The above is a sneaky peak of the Clematis Tower on metal - if you want to see more and find out how this was made, check out my post on Oak House Studio's blog.

Many thanks for looking!
