Well another 2 weeks has gone by and the new words on The Craft Barn Quotes and Lyrics Challenge are SENSATION and/or MOON. Lots of good sensation quotes but no images popped into my head so I've chosen Moon and these lyrics from Bombers' Moon by Mike Harding.
For those that don't know Mike Harding aka The Rochdale Cowboy is a folk singer, writer, comedian etc who had TV series in the late 1970s. His father was a Navigator in the RAF and was killed in WWII. I thought the words were very poignant as we are so close to Remembrance Day.
I've used the Poppy stamp from Chocolate Baroque's Flora and Fauna set, inked with Onyx Black Versafine, clear embossed and then coloured with markers. I've then masked the flowers with a circle to create the moon and blended over with Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks. The lyrics were just printed off the computer.
Thanks for looking and for your comments. I'll leave you with a photo I took of the poppies at the Tower of London - this was late September, all the grass has now been covered with the 888,000+ poppies and the last one will be planted on the 11/11.
A lovely page and quote. Perfect for remembrance.
ReplyDeleteHi,beautiful card,the "amapolas"?(the flowers) are very nice!!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow Elaine, I love how you created the moon in the background and the poppies are gorgeous. We are off to see the poppies in London tomorrow, it is lovely to see the cascade in your photo. Anne xx
ReplyDeleteColor me impressed!! I love the way you interpreted the Bomber's Moon. I seem to have heard those lyrics before. This is stunning.
ReplyDeleteI hope someone will show the completed Tower and poppies. I know several of my internet friends have visited, two even from America just to see this stunning display of poppies. Love the poppy photo and your beautiful Bomber's Moon art and lyrics.
Poignant words and a beautiful depiction for the challenge Elaine, a very moving and beautifully coloured page. Hope you make the Wall Of Fame this time you deserve the recognition. Very memorable and timely... :-) xxx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful depiction Elaine. My friend went to see the poppies in September and said it was very moving. I have bought one, which will be delivered around February.

ReplyDeleteI love your page. The poppies look stunning. The Tower Poppies are one of my highlights of this year. I was lucky enough to take part in the planting in October. I revisited last week but the crowds were so large and many of the vantage points had been blocked off.
ReplyDeleteSo poignant and beautifully done Elaine. Jenny x
