R for RAVEN

Here is my next postcard for The Craft Barn's Alpha Dictionary Challenge where the letter this time is R.

I chose to do Raven as I had this beautiful Stampendous Raven sat unused in my stash.  The background is Barn Door Distress (red) and I blended some Picked Raspberry through a Studio Calico Spiral Graph Stencil .....this covers all those other R words like round, ring, radiate, rotate etc etc.  I've added extra stamping with some Hero Arts Castle Icons.  Unfortunately my castle has subsidence - I lined my wooden block up perfectly with the edge of the card but it seems the rubber is not stuck straight on the block....doh!!

I love seeing what words everyone else uses and it's educational too.  One word I found was Roustabout but I had no clue how to depict a labourer on an oil rig!

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Reminds me of that Edgar Allan Poe poem. Love the gothic atmosphere of your page.

  2. This is excellent! I have chosen the same word for "R" but a different raven image, yours is a really good one, love the hat. I didn't know that a Roustabout was a labourer on an oil rig and I really feel I should know that as I work in the oil industry - ho hum, new word - Thank you!

  3. That's a very unique raven. I think this raven would be great for Halloween.

I like your choice of words, and believe it or not, I knew what a roustabout was. Of course, I'm learning a lot, too (including how to stamp-tee hee).

  7. I was too busy admiring the raven image to notice the castle had the same problem as the tower of Pisa! This happens to me all the time, even when I use a stamp positioner! Love the background stencilling too.

  9. You remind me that I must get my Raven into my altered dictionary as well. I have this same Raven and he's so regal with the castle in the background. I love the stenciling and the colors.
